About Me

Lori MatternMy web career began in the fall of 2001.

I was working as a GIS (geographic information systems) specialist for a small environmental nonprofit in Massachusetts at the time. My supervisor wanted to create a web site where people could build interactive maps showing the distribution of natural and cultural resources in southeastern Massachusetts. As the GIS person, the responsibility of developing the site fell to me (you can see the finished product at www.conservationmapper.org).

After developing the online maps, I started working on the web site itself. I found myself actually enjoying the process. It amazed me that in just a few minutes - or even less - I could publish something that could be read by anyone in the world with an Internet connection.

I've continued to learn as much as I can about web content development and online copywriting, as well as other aspects of the Internet, such as web design, ezines, and search engine marketing. My ultimate goal is to use this knowledge to help my clients incorporate high-impact, cost-effective online communications as part of their marketing strategy.
